(San Diego, CA) – Known for his knowledge of art and photography and the influence that art has on the field of dental ceramics, VITA North America teamed up with Claude Sieber, MDT to offer a comprehensive program that focused on teaching students how to create a life-like, all-ceramic restoration, solely from a photograph. Participants were trained on how to map out several effect powders and porcelains, including, Effect Enamels, Effect Pearls, Effect Opals, and others, to fabricate a picture perfect restoration. A brief lecture on understanding the purpose of translucent and opacious porcelain applications to create a tooth was followed by the hands-on portion of the course. Each attendee was supplied with a photograph and used their technical creativity to build and fabricate the closest matching central to the picture.
Two more courses led by Claude Sieber are now available for registration. Both courses will be taught in September at New York City College in Brooklyn, New York. The first, hands-on course will cover light transmission and its influence on front tooth restorations. The second course is an all-ceramic, two-day, hands-on VITA VM9 course that will cover the artistic and scientific theory of the VM9 veneering material.
